*           Steinberg MPU-401 Multimedia Driver Installation           *
*************************************************************************

The Steinberg MPU-401 Windows 3.1 driver runs in standard or enhanced
mode with Windows-versions that support both modes.

We assume that you are at least somewhat familiar with Windows and the
general procedure of setting up Windows-drivers.

To configure Windows for MPU-401 Interface, perform the following:

  1. Run Windows 3.1 (i.e. type WIN<enter/return>).

  2. Open the Main program group.

  3. Double-click the Control Panel icon of the Main Window to
	  display the Control Panel.

  4. Double-click the "Drivers" icon in the Control Panel.

  5. Press the "Add" button, and select "Unlisted or updated drivers".
Select Drive A: or Drive B: (the drive, which contains your
driver disk) and press OK to install the "Steinberg MPU-401 Driver"
	  driver.

  6. If an older version of the driver is present, select "New" to
	  overwrite the old version.

  7. Attach a midi-cable to both midi-connectors of your MPU-401-card
to establish a midi-loop that will allow testing the correct
          settings of the driver.

Set up the IRQ and base address and press the "Check I/O Port"
and the "Check IRQ" button to check your settings.

We recommend to try the default settings (IRQ 2, base adress 330H)
first unless otherwise indicated by your present configuration.

Now restart Windows. Don't forget to disconnect the loopback-cable,
otherwise strange things could happen when running midi applications.
